Restore your youthful appearance
The Valentine Clinic offers a range of wrinkle relaxers to enhance and revitalize the appearance of your skin. When injected, they relax muscles, preventing skin from creasing and causing wrinkles. When completed by an experienced injector, the result is a natural younger looking appearance.
Wrinkle relaxers like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and the recently approved Jeuveau work to treat dynamic wrinkles.
What are Dynamic Wrinkles?
There is a distinction between dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles.
Dynamic wrinkles are wrinkles that are visible on the face during muscular contractions such as frowning and squinting. Once these muscles relax, dynamic wrinkles disappear as the skin springs back to its original position. However, over time these dynamic wrinkles become creases in the skin even at rest.
Common dynamic wrinkles include:
Frown lines between eyebrows
Smile lines around the mouth
Wrinkle relaxers, like Botox are an effective treatment for dynamic wrinkles as it temporarily and partially relaxes facial muscles. As dynamic wrinkles fade away when the underlying muscle contractions are relaxed, it will result in a smoother and more youthful looking complexion all around.
On the other hand, as we age, the production of collagen declines, causing the skin to lose its elasticity. As a result, dynamic wrinkles will eventually become static wrinkles. Static wrinkles are wrinkles that are visible on the face even when facial muscles are relaxed and tend to deepen with age, therefore, wrinkle relaxers like Botox would not be an effective treatment. Instead, injectable dermal fillers are best for addressing static wrinkles.
Xeomin vs Botox vs Dysport
What brand of wrinkle relaxers (botulinum toxin type A) work best and how are they different?
The main difference between Xeomin and Botox or Dysport, is that Xeomin contains just one ingredient: botulinum toxin A.
Xeomin is a “naked injectable,” meaning that it does not contain any additives or complex proteins. A benefit of a pure-form injectable like Xeomin is that the human body is less likely to become resistant to it.
Xeomin may have the slowest “onset” of action of the 3 and Dysport may have the fastest
Dysport has been shown to “drift” or diffuse more than Botox, increasing the chances of an accidental droopy eyelid or unintentional relaxation of a neighboring muscle due to diffusion of the product.
What does the average treatment cost?
The cost of Xeomin is roughly the same as for Botox at $10-$15 per unit but it is a mistake to only consider the per unit cost.
An experienced injector will achieve maximum results with the minimal amount of units per treatment.
We believe this is why our patients spend less per visit vs the average in the Portland/Vancouver area.
According to realself, the average cost per treatment is $550 but in our office most patients achieve great results while often spending much less.

How does it work?
During the treatment, a very fine needle is injected into each specific muscle for a few seconds with only the minor discomfort of a tiny pinch.
Are there any side effects?
You may experience slight swelling at the injection sites, but you can go about your day immediately after receiving treatment. You may also have slight bruising at the injection area.
When will I start seeing results?
Often, patients can start to see the effects within 2-3 days. Botox is usually 85% effective 4 days after treatment and fully effective at 2 weeks
What else can wrinkle relaxers be used for other than treating and preventing wrinkles?
Cosmetically, they can be used to lift and shape the brow, remove furrows, lift the tip of the nose, lift the drooping edges of the mouth, tighten jaw line and lift jowls, soften neck circular lines, soften neck vertical lines and get rid of “gummy” smiles.
What are the benefits of wrinkle relaxing treatments?
Reduces frown lines, wrinkles, fine lines, and other noticeable signs of aging
It can also effectively reduce migraines, TMJ pain and more
It is a non-surgical procedure that takes only about 15-20 minutes to complete
Discomfort is typically very minimal and no downtime is required
Results typically last 3 months but may last much longer with higher doses in the hands of an experienced injector
